Pliē’s First Anniversary

On Saturday, the 21st of August, we celebrated Pliē’s first anniversary party via zoom and it was a blast! 60 gift packs were delivered prior to the event to partners and people who have supported us along the way.

In that span of just 2 hours, we had the privilege of meeting a group of diverse women, discussed our experiences with these amazing Pliē products and enjoyed giving away some of them to a few lucky winners- 13 prizes in total worth RM4,500.

Together with 40 other women and our team, we commemorated how far we’ve come in the past year. Let’s do a quick recap.

How Pliē Malaysia began

Our founder, Adeline C, was 6 months pregnant and like all of us, was dealing with the pandemic when she started Pliē Malaysia in August 2020. It hasn’t been easy for her but because of her belief in and passion for the product along with her love for women in our community, she’s made this so much more than just a functional shapewear brand.

Together with a like minded team (made up of mums btw!) we decided early on that Pliē would be about supporting and empowering women through our quality products, but also through the community that we build. We believe that it’s important that as women, we feel strong and confident while working towards the best versions of ourselves.

What we have achieved

As expected, starting and running a business in the middle of Covid set up some interesting challenges for us. There were times we questioned if we made the right choice. But we were spurred on by each other’s perseverance, inspired by the women we had the honour of meeting and simply convinced by the effectiveness of the products we tried and tested.

Looking back, we realize just how much we were able to accomplish in this first year. We list them below, humbled and grateful.

In just a year, Pliē Malaysia has:

  • Introduced a range of high-quality products (including Emana, maternity and fitness) to support women in whatever stages of life they are in, from pregnancy to postpartum, to fitness and every day activities.
  • Fostered community by networking with more than 80 Malaysian women to highlight relevant issues together.
  • Created over 500 posts which related to current, essential awareness around taboo but essential topics from infertility, to illness, to work-life balance and mental health through our weekly live streams.
  • Interviewed 60 speakers who are leaders in their fields or/and have powerful stories to share.
  • We've built a community of dedicated and loyal customers, got to know new customers and garnered over 15,000 views of our Let's Talk Plie series.

Future plans- Stronger together

Moving forward, we hope to build on the foundation that’s been set in this first year. We’ve refined our goals, strengthened our strategies and are excited to keep investing in the lives of women.

An African proverb reads, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.’

At Pliē Malaysia, we truly believe in the power of community. We know that when one of us struggles, all of us struggle and in the same way, when one of us succeeds, all of us succeed.

In this next season, we will strive to keep celebrating all women- from various backgrounds in all shapes, sizes and colours. We honour everyone’s journey and hope to empower them to take the next step forward- wherever they are. We will continue to invest in our bodies, but also our minds and souls- building a shapewear brand that is respectful and supportive of every individual.

We look forward to forming more bridges, and to keep speaking to entrepreneurs, mums, wives, and leaders remembering that there’s so much we can learn from each other.

We truly believe that we are ‘stronger together’ and we thank you for being a part of our journey. It’s certainly been a wild ride- we’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve socially distanced. Mostly, we hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as we have and we look forward to more good times together.
